Project Vision

16th Century Music is a comprehensive app for classical music lovers of all levels.  Whether you are a casual listener or a dedicated student, the app provides everything you need to deepen your appreciation of the genre.  Discover and purchase concert tickets, stream music across various eras,  and access exclusive training resources to elevate your music journey.

Challenges

This was one of my earlier projects that I had worked on. The app was built not considering an MVP but checking features of competitions in the market and trying to built a similar app. The challenge was to identify what to include and what not.  I created an app including functionalities that address user needs and ensuring a intuitive navigation. While I didn’t follow an MVP approach at the time, this project helped me understand its importance for prioritising features based on user needs.

Kick Off

The concept project began with conducting competitive analysis of classical music streaming services.   I explored and analysed features commonly used in classical music apps.  This analysis provided valuable feedback into user flows, functionalities in music design app.  While the visual design of my app is familiar, I focused on creating a clear and intuitive information architecture to enhance user experience and to ensure smooth navigation within the app.  As this is a concept project it doesn't have a unique value proposition. I have used inspiration from other apps to improve on my design skills.

Wireframe

Taking into account the user base - casual listeners and music enthusiasts - the wireframe prioritised a clear intuitive design to cater to the diverse user base.  A user friendly navigation system was created with clear labels to allow users to easily explore features like concert ticket purchase options, music streaming, and training.  The information architecture was designed logically to allow users to easily access all functionalities.

16th Century Music: Final Design Video

This section showcases the final design of "16th Century Music," a mobile app designed to immerse users in the world of 16th-century music. The following video demonstrates the app's functionalities and user experience in its final visual form.

Takeaways

This project provided a valuable opportunity to improve design skills in the areas of information architecture, navigation design, user friendly design.  While trying to incorporate all functionalities into one app I learned the importance of trying to prioritise core features based on user needs.  This experience reinforces importance of user research through personas to make design decisions and ensure user-centred experience in future projects.
